Muzaffarnagar Riots – Dirty Politics of Mulayam Singh Yadav

Whatever happened in UP in the past week or so is the result of dirty politics being played more or less solely by Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi party (SP) to consolidate its Muslim vote bank and has resulted in 30+ communal riots since SP came to power in 2012. Recent episode of suspension of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal can also be attributed to the same approach. So let’s look at what exactly is SP upto:

Vote Share Chart 2012 Assembly elections

As per above chart in 2012 Vidhan Sabha election, SP got 29.2% and BSP got 25.9%, only a 3.3% vote share difference. But due to multi cornered contest in UP, SP won 224 seats while BSP had to contend with just 80 seats. So even a minor movement of vote can cause big changes.

In 2012 election it is believed that Muslims (19%) + Yadav (9%) overwhelmingly voted for SP,  probably around 80% of them, so essentially SP got around 23% vote just from Yadav’s and Muslims, rest of the 6-7% vote came as a floating vote.

Now though in 2012 elections Congress made a desperate attempt to woo Muslims votes by offering the carrot of reservations in government jobs etc., but Muslims chose to side with SP. In spite of Muslim support that SP got in 2012, it has been insecure about the Muslim vote bank, as it knows both Congress and BSP have their eyes set on this vote bank.

Mulayam knows that even if Congress and BSP are able to get 4-5% Muslim votes from his kitty, he would lose a large number of seats. So since coming to power in 2012 SP has made every attempt to consolidate the Muslim vote for it and to do that it essentially gave goons in Muslim community a free hand. So to a large extent a Muslim could do any crime and go scot-free, so these goons molested and raped Hindu women.

See the long list of Rapes done by Muslims on Hindu women since 2012:

Muslim goons engaged in rioting (there have been 30+ communal riots since SP came to power), smuggled sophisticated arms and even if the police caught them they were let go. Over the last few months there have been numerous reports of deadly weapons being circulated in UP, but the government has taken absolutely no action till date. There have been rumors that a Muslim leader is hand-in-glove with this whole exercise of arming a community to the teeth. In fact, quite a few vehicles have been raided by the police with large quantities of illegal weapons, but the state administration has adopted a “blind eye” policy towards this whole phenomenon. So essentially there was no fear of law.

Now as 2014 election are approaching the Samajwadi party is getting desperate, so when the brutal murder of the 2 Hindus took place, the police didn't do much. This was the usual script that Samajwadi Party has been playing since it came to power. For more insight into what happened check this out:

Now rioting is still on and SP, Congress, BSP have started blaming BJP out of nowhere. As I explained above this is solely the doing of SP, no other party is directly involved.

SP is sure shot winner by consolidating the Muslim vote bank.

Pulling in BJP as a culprit with the beneficiary theory is out rightly ridiculous, why the hell will SP get together with BJP or anyone on this, they are doing whatever they think will get them maximum       political mileage and they don't care who is the beneficiary whether it’s BSP or BJP. SP’s sole aim is seat maximization for 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Blaming BJP using beneficiary is ludicrousit's like saying that since BJP will benefit from scams done by Congress, so BJP is also involved.

According to me SP is solely responsible. Congress/UPA Government can be blamed for inaction (for the fear of antagonizing Muslim votes) in spite of knowing (through IB etc.) what has been going on in UP in last year or so (arms being smuggled, rapes of Hindu girls etc.).
